Former Rochester mayor Lovely Warren once again has a role in local politics.

The Monroe County Democratic Committee confirms that Warren has been chosen as the leader of the county’s 22nd Legislative District Committee, which is an appointed position.

The legislative district is currently represented by County Legislator Mercedes Vasquez-Simmons.

The move comes less than a year after Warren stepped down as the mayor of Rochester following a plea agreement in a campaign finance fraud case.

Warren lost the primary against current mayor, Malik Evans, last November.
