ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Honor Flight sends veterans across the country to Washington, D.C to see monuments made in their honor.

But the cost of these trips are getting more expensive.

Finn Donaldson was one of dozens of bikers outside M’s 4300 Bar & Grill Saturday morning. It was the first stop of the poker run raising money for Honor Flight Rochester.

It’s a cause Donaldson is passionate about.

“We try to go out to every flight coming in at the airport and support the people coming back,” said Donaldson. “Just to support our veterans.”

Heather Henry is a volunteer with Honor Flight in Rochester. Her friends helped organize the poker run fundraiser for her and the organization.

“My friends are the greatest people in the world,” Henry said. “They understand honor flight is a great organization and know that there’s so many people passionate about the veteran community.”

The money goes towards flights and other expenses for veterans during their trips to Washington, D.C. These trips are becoming more and more expensive.

“Our supplies just like every other supply is going up every year,” explained Henry. “Trips going up, gas prices going up so it does cost more to send our veterans.”

The bikers headed out to four other stops in the poker run fundraiser before ending at M’s 4300.

Being able to ride with everyone was a favorite part of the event.
