FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Aug. 1 marks the universal birthday for shelter dogs.
Lollypop Farm is celebrating the universal birthday with a Clear the Shelter event where they are waiving adoption fees for small animals.
The day serves as a celebration for all shelter dog birthdays since it can be difficult to know the exact dates of birth for dogs that come in.
“And we figured what better way than to make birthday wishes come true, and what better birthday wish than a new home?” said the director of communications and events at Lollypop Farm, Ashley Zeh.
During Monday’s Clear the Shelter event, Lollypop Farm is waiving the adoption fee for any small animals, including dogs, cats, bunnies and even mice. They are hoping to find as many furry friends as possible their forever home, and make space in the shelter to welcome more. And so far, they’ve made lots of birthday wishes come true.
“Before we even opened our doors there were people waiting to come and bring home a new pet," Zeh said.
As part of all adoptions through Lollypop Farm, all of the pets available at the Clear the Shelter event come with microchipping, spayed or neutered and are up to date on all their vaccinations. The shelter can even help match potential fur parents with a new companion perfect for them.
“If you’re looking for someone you can go hiking and running with, they’ll find an energetic dog who is ready to do that,” Zeh said. “Or if you’re looking for a couch potato or somebody to watch Netflix with we can find that too.”
You can grant the perfect birthday wish to a new furry friend by bringing them home, because, who knows, it could be making your dream come true, too.
