FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Fairport is helping residents spruce up their front porches with its Front Porch Grant Program.

On just about every street in Fairport you’ll see that the size, style, detailing and front porch designs vary. Porches are a reminder of simpler times. They're a place to unwind, enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. They play a huge social role in any community as a place to chat with neighbors. Fairport is all about enhancing that neighborhood feel.

What You Need To Know

  • Fairport's Front Porch Program now includes all village residential properties owned by village residents that are both owner-occupied and non-owner occupied

  • Fairport OCED has approved 46 projects with grants totaling $80,475

  • The total investment by homeowners is more than $300,000

Martha Malone, executive director at the Fairport Office of Community and Economic Development is proud that the village is once again offering the matching grant incentive. Eligible village homeowners, both owner-occupied and non-owner occupied are welcome to apply for a 50% matching grant of up to $2,000.

“We are very proud of the project," said Malone. "These residents recognize the importance of a front porch in creating a community and getting to know their neighbors and creating that welcoming space that every home needs.”

Brent Long moved to Fairport in 2016. He recently renovated his front porch and received a matching grant to help.

“With any porch board that is not composite you have to continue to do maintenance on it,” Long said. “So this is helpful. It’s a lot less maintenance because it’s composite. I did the structure and my wife took care of a cosmetics of it.”

Since 2018, the Fairport Front Porch Program has awarded $80,000 in grants for 46 porch projects. The total investment by homeowners is more than $300,000. You can apply online for the Fairport Front Porch Matching Grant Program.
