The all-you-can-eat $10 Sunday breakfast makes a return after it was on pause during the COVID-19 omicron surge.

“We go through about 60 dozen eggs in about 70 pounds of bacon," said Lon Schwenzer from Post 330.

The Sunday breakfast from 8:00 a.m. to noon is one of several events on the Post 330 calendar. There’s live music on Fridays and euchre tournaments. They even sell American Legion apparel.

“We’ve been a charter since 1919. We are one of the original posts," said Schwenzer. "We are a nonprofit and we took a harder hit because we did not get any relief from the government, so we raise our money through things like the breakfast."

Lon Schwenzer served 14 years in the United States Navy Seabees. He served three tours overseas. Legions across the country have taken significant financial hits through this pandemic. Legions mean so much to veterans.

“When I joined I didn’t expect to get out of it what I did,” said Schwenzer. “It’s a second family. It is great people who are very friendly. It becomes a second home.”

The average age of members at Post 330 is 73. The events help boost membership, raise money to keep the Legion running and better yet, boost morale.

"This is where friends meet,” said Vietnam veteran Dan Taylor. “It’s a meet and greet here and it’s the best part of the day. We encourage everybody to come over as much as possible. It’s a family organization. It’s not just a Legion."
