ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Police Department confirms it has completed its internal investigation into the arrest of Daniel Prude, the man who died a week after being taken into custody in March 2020.

The department says the findings of that investigation are now being reviewed by the command staff of interim Chief Cynthia Herriott-Sullivan.

The state attorney general empaneled a grand jury to look at the evidence, including body camera footage. That grand jury ultimately declined to indict anyone involved with Prude's arrest.

The revelation of Prude's death in police custody in September sparked protests for weeks.

There is no indication yet about what actions the interim chief will take with the findings or when they'll be made public.
