ROCHESTER, N.Y. — From virtual classes to hybrid schedules and in-person learning, teachers and staff in every school district have had to adapt, change and juggle.

All week, school districts from Wayne County to Livingston County and everywhere in between are acknowledging teachers for all their hard work and dedication.

At Sodus Central Schools it’s "Survivor Appreciation," the week included a morning prize wheel of gift cards and goodies and fun challenges to show gratitude.

"Doing stuff like this puts the fun back in it," said Arkee Allen, Sodus High School principal. "To visibly see people doing it, it just doesn’t get any better than that because that is what life has to be. If it’s not fun what are you doing."

"With all the challenges that we’ve had this year, it has been great for staff morale," said Kevin Hauck, Sodus physical education teacher. "Just to come in and enjoy each other in the morning and laugh and have fun with each other and kind of break up the monotony of the school day so it is appreciated."

Some gestures are small and simple to give thanks, but sometimes that's all teachers need to feel appreciated.

"Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week," said Zharia Newton, a sophomore at Le Roy CSD. "I would like to take the time to appreciate all of Le Roy staff and teachers and tell them that I am thankful for them motivating me to do my best in school and pushing me to be a better version of myself. Let’s go Knights!"

Thank you teachers.  Keep up the good work. We can’t do it without you.
