ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Strong National Museum of Play has announced the 2021 inductees into the World Video Game Hall of Fame.

The following games made the cut this year:

  • “Animal Crossing”
  • “Microsoft Flight Simulator”
  • “StarCraft”
  • “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego”

They beat out the other finalists, “Call of Duty,” “Guitar Hero” and “Farmville.”

The Strong's World Video Game Hall of Fame was established in 2015. It recognizes electronic games of all types that:

  • Are widely known and remembered
  • Have been popular over time
  • Are enjoyed across international boundaries 
  • Have had a significant influence on other games, other forms of entertainment or on popular culture and society in general
