EAST ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Gates to Recovery teamed up with Gates police Sunday to give away free turkeys to the community.
They started passing out turkeys just before 11 a.m. By 11:30 a.m., all the turkeys were gone.
In total, Gates to Recovery says they passed out 200 turkeys. Organizers say the goal was to make sure those in need will have a good Thanksgiving.
"With unemployment and everything the way it is, people can't afford the small things like a turkey dinner. It's a big relief for someone to get a turkey," said Randy Cimino, president of Gates to Recovery.
This was the third turkey giveaway gates to recovery had in the past two weeks.
