FAIRPORT, N.Y. β Every dog deserves a second chance at a better life, so Lollypop Farm is working hard to help save more behaviorally challenged dogs.
Lollypop Farm truly believes there is a dog for every family and a family that's the right fit for every dog no matter what their background.
Athena, a 2-year-old mixed breed had a tough start in life. When Lollypop got her, she wasn't exactly an angel and was super shy with trust issues. With Lollypop's support, Athena met the Davis family from Canandaigua.
"She came into the play yard outside at Lollypop and she ran around and was jumping at us and she sat right at my feet and looked at me and that gave me the sense that she needs someone to love on her and give her a chance," said Caitlin Davis.
Lollypop Farm needs more families like the Davis'. Lollypop says dogs, like people, come from a variety of backgrounds. Sadly, some dogs have been abused, neglected, are timid, and have anxiety, but these pets can make wonderful family members.
"There are pets all the time that really at no fault of their own have unique needs. So we are really looking for people to go that extra mile to cater and really work with a pet and help face those challenges as a family going forward after adoption," said Ashley Zeh of Lollypop Farm.
Lollypop's counselors help ensure successful adoptions. Lollypop provides behavioral support to challenged animals and their new families before, during, and after adoption.
A lot has changed for the better for Athena and the Davis family, with time, patience, and love.
"She is such a good girl. I think it's important to get the dogs out of the shelter and into homes that are going to give them the second chance they deserve. We have a busy family so she just fits in."
