Rochester Mayor Lovely Warren responded to another report of the continued investigation into her reelection campaign finances on Monday, calling the accusations a “witch hunt.”

The District Attorney's office has been looking into accusations that Mayor Warren's campaign used her Political Action Committee to get around state campaign finance rules.

Warren's primary opponents from 2017, James Sheppard and current County Legislator Rachel Barnhart, both filed formal complaints regarding the PAC.

Counsel for the Friends of Lovely Warren says they haven't heard from the DA's office about any investigation.

Warren says she's running for reelection next year and calls the accusations a “witch hunt.”

"Come January, I'll be running for reelection and I believe that it's a political witch hunt, and I think that it's wrong, and I think that people have overstepped here, and I plan on, and my attorneys plan on, defending me to the fullest extent of the law," Warren said.

"The fact of the matter is, this report that they claim that they have is supposed to be confidential. It's illegal for anyone to have even talked about this report. It's wrong and the fact that anybody even talked about it without any proof or accusations and it's wrong. It's not okay for people in charge because they can to set out to try to destroy someone's reputation," the mayor continued.

Mayor Warren has previously attributed the transfer of $30,000 from the PAC to the official committee to a PayPal error.
