The Rochester Police Locust Club, the police department’s union, has released a statement on behalf of injured Rochester Police Department Officer Denny Wright.

The statement reads:

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the Rochester and surrounding communities for the outpouring support that has been given to my family and I,” Wright said. “We are truly touched by all those who have reached out to us. To hear about everyone who has donated their time, food, or just simply sent a card, or said a prayer, has been uplifting and strengthened my resolve to rehabilitate and recover from the events of October 4th. There are no words that can describe how grateful I am for the love and support from everyone.”

Wright was attacked and seriously injured while responding to a call on Peck Street October 4. He is still recovering in the hospital after suffering multiple stab wounds, including some to the face.

A special tribute for Officer Wright is scheduled Thursday night at 8:00 p.m.

The Golisano Neurology Rehabilitation Center at Unity Hospital will display blue lights in honor of Officer Wright.
