The Ontario County Sheriff's Office has identified the bodies of two people found in the rubble of a home that exploded in Richmond Tuesday.

They also determined that the explosion was caused by a propane leak inside the house.

The bodies of Eric Higham, 80, and his wife Gail Higham, 70, were pulled from the debris Tuesday morning.

The Richmond Volunteer Fire Department was called to the house early Tuesday morning in the area of US Route 20A near Quayle Road. When they arrived, the home was destroyed and the remains were engulfed in flames.

After crews put the fire out, an investigation revealed there were two people inside the home. The Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed those bodies as the Highams.

Investigators have yet to determine what ignited the gas.
