There’s an art studio in Irondequoit for people of all ages to get creative, and registration for fall classes is now open.

The Art Center of Rochester offers workshops after school, in the evenings and weekends.

"Our fall classes start Monday, but it is not too late to sign up,” said owner Kaitlin Roney-Blaine. “We have a lot of different homeschool offerings during the day. We have a theater arts program on Thursdays for homeschooled children and evening classes in computer graphics and different visual art classes for children. (And) then we have figure drawings on Wednesday and Sunday evenings.”

The vibe at the art center is all about flexibility, promoting artists to work at their own speed. Students can try watercolor, paint, printmaking, sketching, animation and computer graphics.

"It is a very fun space where you can just be yourself and not mess up,” said Lucy Blaine of Irondequoit. “You can be yourself and do whatever you want to draw.”

Matt Sigler of Irondequoit said he can create all types of art, equating it to print making.

“I can't mess it up, so that's why I love it,” he said.

The art center’s “Club Connect” on Mondays is a social opportunity for people with special needs and their friends.

“It is for everybody, but a safe place for people who want to hang out, create and do their own thing,” Roney-Blaine said. “We are here to help them (with) the materials and give them that open studio time, so that's been awesome."

Art Center of Rochester is on Titus Avenue in Irondequoit. Online registration is available at www.artcenterrochester.com.
