The two suspects who allegedly assaulted an EMT during an altercation yesterday have been arrested on third-degree burglary and second-degree assault charges.

Daniel Erwin, 30, of Dansville, and Dominique Lippa, 24, of Webster, were taken into custody after the alleged assault and an alleged burglary after fleeing the scene with EMTs.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a rolled over vehicle on September 4, at 6:43 a.m. Deputies determined that the initial call for a vehicle rollover was inaccurate.

There was no indication of injury and the driver indicated he had a tow truck on the way. Deputies left the scene.

However, dispatch received a second call for the same vehicle at 7:25 a.m. When EMS arrived 10 minutes later, both occupants appeared to be either sleeping or unconscious while the vehicle was parked on the side of the road.

During the EMS evaluation, EMS reported to dispatch that the vehicle's occupants assaulted one of the EMTs. Erwin and Lippa reportedly fled the scene.

A search was conducted by law enforcement after the alleged incident.

Deputies located Erwin and Lippa parked next to a farm stand in Rush, located on Rush-Mendon Road, where they were taken into custody without incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

“MCSO received another call for a burglary that occurred at a residence near the farm stand just prior to deputies locating Erwin and Lippa,” according to a statement from the MCSO. “An additional investigation was conducted and Erwin and Lippa were identified as suspects in that burglary.”

The injured EMT was treated at a local hospital and released. Due to concerns of possibly being under the influence of an illegal substance, Erwin and Lippa were evaluated and treated at a local hospital.

Both are being held in the Monroe County Jail on bond. The investigation is ongoing. Additional charges may be forthcoming, according to the MCSO.
