A community-focused photography contest in Greece celebrates what life is like living, working and playing in the town.
The fifth annual "Glimpses of Greece" photo contest is a chance to share your favorite photographs taken throughout the town. The contest includes six categories and two age divisions, including one for teens ages 13 to 17.
"We typically get about 150 entries so this last week is the big crunch to get your entries in,” Claire Talbot, Greece Public Library said. “You can enter up to three pictures."
Get your pictures ready! The deadline to enter is Saturday, August 31.
Dick Bennett from Image City Photography Gallery in Rochester is one of three judges picking the winning photos.
"Composition is important and where the subject is--you make that clear and focused,” Bennett said. “Something from a different perspective: if you are always used to looking at something from five feet away, get on the ground and take it. Look at it from the point of view a snail or a small child or if you are a child, get into a different position."
Winning photos will be featured in the 2020 Greece Public Library calendar.
"It gives me a reason to be outside and that is something,” photographer and judge, Lisa Cook added. “You want to get outside in the winter or on a hot day and just be out in nature and if you have your camera you have a reason to be there and then you start taking pictures and you get inspired."
Photo contest winners will be announced next month. You can submit an entry online.
