Mid-August means it's about time to shop for those "back-to-college" bargains.
Flower City Habitat for Humanity's ReStore is stocked with items to help get college dorms or your first apartment feeling more like home.
ReStore sells gently used furniture, accessories, tools and appliances at discounted prices. Some back-to-school must haves like mini-fridges are priced as low as $35.
"We do get a wide variety. There are a lot of nice things that can go with just about any decor. Nothing gets too fancy with college rooms but it fits right in,” Dan Petronio, ReStore said. “It’s nice to get a little extra time with the kids before they go and give them some good advice on how to shop for the best deals and the good bargains for their money. It's a nice way to send them off and then when you get everything you can start decorating with them. It helps make the transition a little bit easier.”
Store proceeds help Habitat for Humanity build more homes.
"We have a good selection. We have a little bit for everybody,” Tony Garritano, ReStore said. “The college students like to come in as a group-maybe they are rooming together and they'll decide on a piece or two. It is a good thing, it gives things a second life. It is win-win situation and we get some proceeds to help Habitat.”
Items priced with a yellow dot means another 25 percent off at the checkout.
ReStore has locations on East Henrietta Road in Henrietta and Culver Road in Rochester. It’s open Monday through Saturday.
