A man is dead as Rochester police investigate a pair of shootings within minutes of each other on the city’s southwest side.

Officers were first called to Brookdale Avenue off of Brooks Avenue around 2 a.m. where they found a Micah Welch, 34, with a serious gunshot wound. Police said AMR attempted to save the man's life but he died at the scene.

Rochester Police Department's Major Crimes Unit remained at the scene investigating several hours after the incident.

Martha Jones, 28, has been charged with second-degree murder. She will be arraigned Thursday morning.

Three minutes after that shooting, police were called to another incident outside a club on West Main Street.

"As it turned out, we got the call from an AMR rig that had driven by, it was a large fight outside that club, a shot was fired,” said RPD Captain Naser Zenelovic. “Initially we had reports of up to three people shot and fortunately that's not the case.”

Officers said the shooting happened during a fight in the parking lot of the club.

One woman was dropped off at a hospital with a gunshot wound to the wrist. Officials said her injuries are not life-threatening.

Police are still looking for a suspect.
