The International Joint Commission that regulates lake levels reports that Lake Ontario reached a record daily level on June 1.

The new record total is 248.98 feet. It edges out the previous record from 2017.

Lakeshore Flood Warning says record-high water levels combined with high winds are expected to cause large waves that could lead to flooding and erosion. It is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday afternoon.

As water begins to spill over the shores of Lake Ontario, causing damage to many waterfront communities, the international body that regulates lake levels said its doing all it can to mitigate the issues.
