Gun shots rang out as police tried to break up a large house party on Rochester's northeast side.

Police say they were trying to disperse more than 200 people when some started throwing glass bottles. It happened at a home on Fieldwood Drive shortly after midnight.

Officers called in additional help after the crowd allegedly refused to leave the area. At one point officers saw a man holding his waistband and saw a gun fall onto the sidewalk.

Robert Baxter, 18, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.

While this was going on, shots were fired one block south of the party.

A 19-year-old who had been shot at least once in his lower body was located. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the two incidents are unrelated.
