Laura Rideout has appealed her murder conviction and she's blaming the 2016 death of her estranged husband's on their two sons, according to paperwork filed with the State Supreme Court Appellate Division.

The court of appeals is expected to hear Rideout's appeal later this year.

Laura and her son Colin were convicted of killing Craig Rideout in his Penfield home and disposing of the body in Yates County. She's serving a 41-year sentence and Colin is in prison for 27 years.

Her other son Alex was convicted of tampering with evidence.

In court paperwork, Laura said her sons killed Craig in some attempt to help other siblings get away from what she claimed was "an abusive father."

Laura's appeal is expected to be heard during the court's session in October.
