One of the jurors who acquitted former Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio in her felony trial has broken his silence.

Ten men and two women decided to not to convict Astacio on an attempted criminal purchase or disposal of a weapon charge in an Onondaga County courtroom on Friday.

One of the jurors was 26-year old Tyler Woods from the Syracuse area. He says the sticking point for their decision was whether or not Astacio was close to obtaining a gun.

"There were two people, as of Friday morning, who were still leaning towards the guilty verdict," Woods said. "You know, we wanted to make sure that everybody when we decided whichever way we were going to lean—when you wake up today you're not like I should have gone the other way. I still stand by the not guilty verdict and I know it looks like she was guilty but based on the judges law he put out to us we couldn't find her guilty."

Astacio remains on probation for the initial drunk driving charge, but will keep her law license.

It remains to be seen how the verdict will affect her campaign, as she is currently running for a seat on Rochester City Council.
