An interactive learning center in Parma uses a unique tool to engage and challenge children.

The Brick Lab in Parma is located on Ridge Road, just north of the village of Spencerport. The center, which opened in September, gives kids a chance to indulge in the fun of exploring and building.

“It’s been really busy. The open play is very good and lots of birthday parties,” said owner Terry Moss. "We are just looking to grow and provide more opportunities for kids and families for classes and workshops and all types of stuff."

Moss is a father of three and was a special education teacher for more than a decade. He knows that learning through play is an important part of growing up.

“It is a great tool and Lego does an awesome job," saif Moss. "This is the way of the future in building in STEM and using those minds to be able to build and create something, look at it and modify it and adjust it and make things better."

Moss says when he was a stay-at-home dad with his daughter, he learned there weren't many fun things to do on Rochester's west side so he created one.

"We wanted to create a place where families can come and spend a lot of time and it has been great so far," Moss said.

The Brick Lab is open Tuesday through Sunday.
