The Monroe County Board of Elections said some objections have been filed to the petitions of several candidates who are running for office this November.

One of those petitions from former Rochester City Court Judge Leticia Astacio, who's looking to take a spot on Rochester City Council, representing the Northwest District. There are questions about whether some of those who signed her petition to get on the ballot actually live in the district or are registered Democrats.

"We count up all the objections that are valid and we weigh that against what was in the petition to begin with," said Monroe County Board of Elections Commissioner Tom Ferrarese. "Now, is there enough valid objections to throw the petition out or not? When we get all done, we make that decision and we have to write up a decision and a ruling and the ruling includes a lot of detail."

Commissioner Ferrarese said objections are filed by people who must live in that district, and be a registered voter with either party.

The candidates have three days from the day a petition is thrown out to take the case to court.
