ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Bishop Kearney alumna Pam Melroy has been inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.

She was inducted with former NASA astronauts Michael Lopez-Alegria and Scott Kelly in a ceremony at the Kennedy Space Center on Saturday.

The three were selected as hall of famers in 2020, but the ceremony was delayed because of the pandemic.

To be eligible, inductees must have made their first flight at least 17 years prior and have been retired from NASA for at least five years.

Melroy served as a space shuttle commander and pilot in three different missions.

She is one of only two women to ever command a space shuttle.
