ROCHESTER, N.Y. — You've got to see it to believe it. Artist Stan Munro is showing off his Toothpick World Sci-Fi 2021 display at Eastview Mall. It’s set up in the Von Maur wing at Eastview.

Munro makes landmarks, structures, and cities from around the world and beyond with nothing but toothpicks and a whole lot of glue.

“When people come and they have four kids at their heels and they tell me I have patience and I’m like, no, no, no, no, no, it’s not the kind of patience at all. It is actually quite relaxing. It is my therapy," joked Munro.

Munro moved some of toothpick world temporarily to Eastview Mall. He said he’s doing it for fun.

“Normally we are at the Museum of Science and Technology in Syracuse,” he said. “I still have the majority of my pieces there at the top floor. But my wife and I were thinking, gosh with everything going on, we just wanted to do something fun and hope people can come to Eastview Mall and just have a good time.”

The display is spread out in seven window displays.

“It is just amazing and incredible the time he puts into this and every detail is perfect,” said Elise Beach from Avon.

Munro is not into numbers, so let's brag for him. He has built more than 200 structures from 42 countries using five million toothpicks and counting and more than 50 gallons of glue. He has four Guinness World Records, and he’s just a cool dude who loves his craft and his beautiful wife Suzie.

“When people come through here and say oh I brought my kids and I told them we were going to see a bunch of toothpicks and the kids are like ugh and then they get here and they’re like holy cow! That is part of the fun of it," said Munro.

Toothpick World Sci-Fi 2021 is located near Entrance 6 at Eastview Mall near Von Maur. It will be up for an unknown amount of time, or as Munro joked, "until the space is rented or the display is rented or sold."
