Nonprofits continue to find creative ways to hold fundraisers during this pandemic. That includes Holy Childhood and its annual Wegmans Wine at Center Ice event. It will be “to-go” this year.
The culinary adventure is to benefit Holy Childhood and all it does for children and adults with developmental disabilities. It will feature a to-go box of appetizers from Wegmans, Roam Café, Madeline’s Catering, Zweigle’s, and Guglielmo Sauce. You can choose a four-pack of craft beer or a bottle of wine. There will also be a silent auction of memorabilia and gift baskets.
“It is so important for us to continue the tradition of having events like this because this is the lifeblood of our organizations," said Donna Dedee, president and CEO of Holy Childhood. "When funding streams are reduced and they certainly have been during COVID and with the additional COVID expenses that have come up in the last year it's very, very challenging to maintain consistent funding. For us to just forgo these events simply because of the pandemic would hurt us further. Events like this give us an opportunity to educate new friends about the great work we are doing on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We hope it makes them friends for life because they feel really good about what we are doing and the fact that they are able to make a difference."
You can purchase Wine at Center Ice tickets for $55 at holychildhood.org/events. Select your drink choice and pickup time between 5-7 p.m. on April 22 at Bill Gray's Regional Iceplex, 2700 Brighton Henrietta Town Line Road in Brighton.
