BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Let's be real: Parenting is tough. Parenting during a pandemic, well, we all know that’s a challenge. MOMS Clubs are here to help.
The MOMS Club of Brockport gets together at least once a week for some kid-focused fun. While the kids play, moms have a chance to chat and catch up.
Amber Sheffet hesitated to join the club at first, but four years later, she's president of the MOMS Club of Brockport. She has five children that range in age from eight months to 14 years old. She says motherhood is the greatest sisterhood.
"It is absolutely and has been amazing to have the support," said Sheffet. "Raising my children with this group of women, I couldn’t ask for anything better.”
Kristina Mitrousis is a mother of two to Alex, who is two-and-a-half, and baby Asher. She moved to Ogden about a year ago.
"It’s amazing having a network of moms to see in person and also message each other and Facebook and things like that and just offer each other some support. Especially during COVID times and everything, it has been very lonely for the moms stuck at home with children, so it gives us a little bit of an outlet," said Mitrousis.
Christine Landers' husband works full-time and he’s a musician. She joined the MOMS club in Brockport for some much-needed support.
"They literally were a lifesaver for me. I was so lonely at home raising a two-year-old with special needs, and I just needed somebody, and they were there for me when I needed them. They are my village. I owe them everything," said Landers.
You are encouraged to check with MOMS Club on their website to find a chapter near you. In our area, there are active MOMS Clubs in the Brockport area, Batavia, Webster, Penfield, and Honeoye Falls.
