Rochester native Isaiah Stewart is one of five finalists for Naismith High School Basketball Player of the Year.

Stewart, a former standout at McQuaid, is now a senior at La Lumiere, a prep school in Indiana with a powerhouse basketball program.

The 6 foot 9 inch forward helped lead his team to a perfect 28-0 record so far, and the No. 1 national ranking, according to USA Today.

Should Stewart win the Naismith Award, he would join some elite basketball company, including Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Ben Simmons, Kevin Love, Alonzo Mourning, Chris Webber, Dwight Howard, Shane Battier, Lonzo Ball and many more.

Stewart committed to Washington last month, where he'll join another Rochester native, former Bishop Kearney star Nahziah Carter.

Last July, Stewart led team USA to a gold medal in the FIBA U-17 in Argentina with a game-high 15 points. Another Rochester connection — Fairport head coach Scott Fitch was an assistant coach for that gold-medal winning team, and formed a strong friendship with Stewart along the way.

According to ESPN's Top 100 recruiting database, Stewart is the fifth best prospect of this year's class.

Stewart was also named as a member for the McDonald's All-American Game which features the top basketball players in the country.
