Aquinas rising senior quarterback Tyler Szalkowski gave a verbal commitment to the University of Albany.

Szalkowski led the Li'l Irish to the 2018 NYS Football title and back to the Section V Class AA finals in 2019.

In his first two varsity seasons, Szalkowski completed 68% of his passes for 4,837 yards and 54 touchdowns, half of those TD passes coming last season.

He also received an offer from Lafayette but Albany offered more post-grad options and the Great Danes' offense suits Szalkowski perfectly.

"I'm more of a pro style quarterback, I like to just sit in the pocket and throw, I'm not a big runner but I'm a guy that can get out of the pocket if he needs to and Albany likes to throw the ball, they like to throw it a lot, that was very interesting to me," said Szalkowski. "I just kind of saw myself there, pictured myself walking through the hallways, going to class there, playing football there."

He is also the ace of the Aquinas pitching staff for the baseball team and is hoping to finish off his career on the diamond next year.
