ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The University of Rochester Medical Center has ended its executive health and patient services program, saying it no longer reflects the values of the medical center.

The program was recently drawn into the spotlight after 26 members got access to the COVID-19 vaccine during an employee vaccination event.

The department of health is now investigating that incident.

The executive health program was started in the 1980s as a primary care office for company executives who paid for the service.

As the program ends, hospital officials say it will honor upcoming scheduled appointments as it directs patients to new providers over the next four months.

The hospital says by eliminating preferential access to care, it will disperse those resources to strengthen care for all patients.
