A colorful new public mural is being painted in Irondequoit at what is a super busy summer destination for so many families. The community centerpiece is located in the Sea Breeze neighborhood.

With each color and brush stroke, artist Kaitlin Roney-Blaine from the Art Center of Rochester is transforming the side of Shamrock's Jack's into a timeline and snapshot of all things Irondequoit.

"We've gotten so much support," said Roney-Blaine. "We've had people coming up and chatting while we are painting. It's been really fun."

You've probably been to a few of the places she's painting, like the House of Guitars or Park Side Diner. You'll notice the mural features local favorites like the band Jumbo Shrimp and Dancing Todd.

"So yes, it is a really fun mural," artist Roney-Blaine said. "It reminds me of a whimsical map of a children's storybook and I am really excited to see it coming together."

The Petzing family, who owns Shamrock Jack's, is hoping the mural will get a lot of views. It faces Seabreeze Amusement Park, which just opened for weekends.

Kaitlin, her husband Chris, and artist Chloe Smith should have the mural completed in a week or so.
