1. Hochul proposes change so N.Y. governors, lieutenant governors run together in primaries

As state budget negotiations drag a week past the deadline in Albany, Gov. Kathy Hochul threw a dark horse issue into the talks with a proposal to change election procedures so candidates for governor and lieutenant governor run together in the primary rather than separately, Spectrum News 1 confirmed Monday.

2. Penfield to hold first regular school board meeting since LGBTQ book controversy

The Penfield Central School District will hold its first regular Board of Education meeting in more than a month Tuesday night. The district canceled two previous meetings after receiving what it said were threatening messages with racist and homophobic language.

3. S&P 500 rises 1% after paring a much bigger, early gain as uncertainty about Trump's tariffs reigns

U.S. stocks are rising Tuesday, but big swings are still rocking Wall Street for a second straight day as uncertainty continues to reign about what whether President Donald Trump will ease up on his trade war, which is scheduled to kick into a higher gear after midnight.

4. Supreme Court blocks order requiring Trump administration to reinstate thousands of federal workers

The Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked an order for the Trump administration to return to work thousands of federal employees who were let go in mass firings aimed at dramatically downsizing the federal government.

5. Nurse saves her husband's life with her knowledge of CPR; Now she teaches it to children

According to the American Heart Association, there are more than 357,000 cardiac arrests every year that happen outside of hospitals. One woman was at home when she was able to save her husband’s life with CPR. Faith Terry is a nurse with Crouse Hospital. Two years ago, when her husband collapsed, she jumped into action.

6. 5/14 commission selects site for Buffalo shooting memorial; agreement being finalized

A site has been chosen for the home of the future 5-14 memorial. Commission members said that the agreement is still being finalized with the current property owners, but they hope to be able to make an announcement soon.
