ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A nationally renowned lineup of comedians is in Rochester Wednesday night to help raise awareness and funds for those battling breast cancer.
The 10th annual Laugh Out Loud with SIS fundraiser is at Comedy @ the Carlson in Rochester.
Wednesday’s comedy and live music event supports SIS: Sustain Inspire and Survive— a nonprofit that gives money directly to people in our community battling breast cancer.
"Since 2005 we have actually helped more than 1,100 patients,” said Kim Bender from SIS. “That is over $700,000 that we’ve been able to get back to the community. So we just want to have Rochester come out and have a great time and have a lot of laughs and just know that you are supporting wonderful cause.”
The lineup includes comedians from Rochester, New York City and Philadelphia along with live music from Jumbo Shrimp. The headliner is the hilarious Mooney McCarthy. He’s performed on just about every late night show, but Wednesday night, it is all about Rochester and raising money for SIS. SIS is a 100% volunteer driven effort to help people with breast cancer pay their bills. Rochester funnyman Todd Youngman is the event‘s host and emcee.
“To be able to see people in here smiling and laughing and having fun, that is what we love,” Youngman said. “That was the goal. If anyone needs a laugh it is now.”
Doors open at 5 p.m., live music begins at 6 p.m. and comedians take the stage at 7 p.m. Comedy @ the Carlson is located at 50 Carlson Rd., just off Blossom Road in Rochester. Tickets are $39 and available online at carlsoncomedy.com.
