Some of the best independent genre movies from around the world will be playing this weekend in Rochester.

The Anomaly Film Festival at the Cinema Theater showcases sci-fi, horror, fantasy, action, dark comedy and some indescribable films.

“We have plenty to see and not just films, we have plenty of events before and after. We want to see these new films and we want to share it with Rochester,” said Co-Founder Kristin Pelc-Pacheco.

Anomaly includes 10 feature films and 20 short genre films from 17 different countries.

“These are the kind of the movies that I always want to see and tend not to come to Rochester, so we were like why not make a festival and bring them here," said Adam Lubitow, programming director. "A lot of them have played in some of the biggest festivals in the world including the Cannes film festival and Sundance and they otherwise wouldn’t be here so we are bringing them here for the first time and they might not play in Rochester again. These are all Rochester premieres so we are super excited about it.”

“We are greedy," said Co-Founder Erin Murphy, "we want to watch these films with you guys!”

The Anomaly Genre Film Festival is Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can purchase a three-day pass, one-day pass or individual movie tickets. For tickets and showtimes head to this website.
