Rochester City School District Superintendent Dr. Carmine Peluso will now be filling that role at another local district.

On Tuesday, the Churchville-Chili Central School District announced Peluso had been named superintendent of schools. The district says his first day will be July 1, 2024.

Peluso will succeed Dr. Lori Orologio, who is retiring on June 30, 2024.

"On behalf of the Board of Education, we are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Peluso," said Churchville-Chili School Board President Kathleen Dillon. "He brings a wide variety of experiences and a skill set that will take our district to the next level! We look forward to a smooth transition in leadership. The Board thanks Dr. Orologio for her leadership and dedication to our district. We wish her the very best as she begins a new chapter in her life."

"I am excited to become a part of the Churchville-Chili Central School District," said Peluso. "I look forward to meeting the students, staff and families in our schools and community. I am committed to working with the administrative team and Superintendent Orologio to ensure a seamless transition."

As superintendent of the RCSD, Peluso helped stabilize the budget, reconfigure the district, settle collective bargaining agreements, led planning for a $475 million facilities modernization program and more.

Rochester Teachers Association President Adam Urbanski confirms Peluso will finish the current school year with the RCSD before stepping down.
