ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District is gathering input on its plans to modernize its schools.

The district has $475 million approved by the state to improve learning spaces, update athletic facilities and expand Career and Technical Education labs.

“This billion-dollar project has allowed many of our buildings to be renovated to ensure that students have modern learning spaces and comfortable facilities they can be proud to attend,” said Dr. Carmine Peluso, interim superintendent of schools. “This project furthers our mission to foster students’ individual talents and abilities by creating spaces conducive to learning.”

The RCSD is now sharing its preliminary plans for phase three of this facilities modernization program.

The second of three meetings designed to gather feedback from the community is being held Monday evening. The meeting will take place at School 34 on Lexington Avenue at 5:30 p.m.

A final meeting will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday at the RCSD Central Office on West Broad Street. It will also be live-streamed on Facebook, YouTube and Zoom.

Anyone wishing to speak at the meeting is required to sign up no later than noon on the day of each meeting by sending an email to fmphearings@rcsdk12.org
