ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Life's next chapter is beginning for hundreds of students at the University of Rochester this week.

Tuesday was freshman move-in day.

Undergraduates were rushing items into their dorms during intermittent rain showers. Once settled, the roughly 1,500 students will get ready for their first week of higher education.

"There's a lot of planning that goes into student move-in," said U of R spokesperson Sara Miller. "Soon after the students move in they'll be going to student orientation programs and the first day of classes is next week."

As with each new semester, the U of R has a diverse class of students. This year, they come from 44 U.S. states and more than 50 different countries.
