Tuesday is Election Day in New York state and there are three key races to watch in the Rochester and Finger Lakes regions.
The race for Monroe County executive centers around many of the issues communities around New York are trying to solve.
- Adam Bello (D): He is the incumbent Monroe County executive. Adam has also served as Irondequoit town supervisor and Monroe County clerk. He is a lifelong resident of Monroe County.
- Mark Assini (R): He is the former Gates town supervisor and previously served as a Monroe County legislator. He is also a lifelong Monroe County resident.
While the candidates are focusing on different issues, they both agree on the need for stability in the city council and continuing to move Geneva forward.
- Stephen Valentino (R): He is the Democratic incumbent mayor, but after Democratic committee support went to Jan Regan during the primary election, Valentino will be running on the Republican ticket in November’s election. Valentino works at Thermo Fisher Scientific, a biotechnology company in Rochester.
- Jan Regan (D): She is member of Geneva City Council. She says one of her campaign goals is to lower the city’s high tax rate. Regan uses her love for photography to connect with both the city of Geneva and its residents.
New York State Supreme Court 7th Judicial District:
The district is made up of eight counties that reach across the Rochester region, Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier.
- Alex Renzi (R): He is an incumbent state Supreme Court justice. Renzi was elected to the state Supreme Court in 2009. Before that, he was a judge for the Monroe County Court, to which he was elected in 2002.
