ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Election Day may be behind us, but the work of the Monroe County Board of Elections is far from over.

Folks working at the Board of Elections Processing Center aren’t slowing down well after the voting has ended.

“They asked me to give a helping hand today, and I figured I’d help them out," said BOE worker Joe Caccamise.

He's one of the many folks pounding the pavement and transporting voting machines from polling sites back to the BOE processing center.

“Trucking them over here, stopping at each stop, loading them up and then unloading them here at the Board of Elections,” he said. “[I’m] having a good time, making sure everything’s back secure and safe.”

Secure and safe are the key words in that sentence, as the center is watched over by police.

“We always keep them under bipartisan lock and key until they are tabulated and counted," said Republican Monroe County Board of Elections Commissioner Lisa Nicolay. “This is where we keep everything. We keep our voting machines, we keep our ballots that we have to keep after they’ve been counted.”

About 720 voting polling machines were spread out between 280 polling locations and will now be stored in the warehouse.
