ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Rochester police say they have made an arrest in connection with a deadly hit-and-run earlier this month.

Investigators say Nyasia Walker, 20, of Rochester, was struck while crossing Clifford Avenue shortly before 9:30 p.m. on August 9. She later died at Strong Memorial Hospital.

According to authorities, the vehicle left the scene. They say the driver, Michelle Correia, 30, of Rochester was arrested on Tuesday.

Police say Correia was driving recklessly before striking Walker and fleeing the scene. Correia is charged with second-degree manslaughter, the Rochester Police Department says.

Correia was arraigned in Rochester City Court on Tuesday and plead not guilty. A preliminary hearing will take place Friday at 1:30 p.m. She is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail, according to authorities.
