ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The House of Mercy in Rochester says it will start allowing more people to stay overnight starting Friday.
The homeless shelter is currently in Phase 1 of reopening after experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak earlier this month.
That means the shelter is operating at 10% capacity.
House of Mercy officials say they have tested staff members and have deep-cleaned the shelter.
Dr. Michael Mendoza says everyone 6 months and older, with almost no exceptions, is eligible for the flu and updated COVID-19 vaccines.
Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stay up to date on vaccine boosters.
The benefits have gone back to pre-pandemic levels, leaving many families across the Empire State needing more.
