ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After two years, Pride is back in Rochester.

Hundreds came out to celebrate and show support for the LGBTQ community.

Park Avenue turned into a sea of rainbows as the Rochester Pride Parade returned to the city.

Around 150 different organizations walked in the parade.

“It’s been missed, really has been missed,” said Mark Malahousky of Trillium Health. “It’s great, the weather is great, and the atmosphere is great.”

Unlike most places, Rochester celebrates Pride Month in July. For people at the parade, they said nothing beats celebrating in their city.

“You can drive and go to pride in other places but there’s nothing like pride at home,” said Jilese Rodriquez.

While anyone can celebrate pride, those in the LGBTQ community say they want people to take away one thing from the celebration.

"Just continue to treat us like everyone else,” said Rodriguez. "Because we were the same no matter who we love.”

The parade was followed by a festival at Cobb Hill Park.
