ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester theater is paying tribute to composer Stephen Sondheim with his show “Company."
It's an innovative show being held in an innovative format.
Instead of taking place on a traditional stage, the actors move around and the audience travels with them.
It's based on a concept the director saw during a trip to Italy.
"We followed the three singers through different rooms,” artistic director Judith Ranaletta said. “I looked at my husband and said I need to bring this concept to Rochester.”
“Company” is a musical about love and relationships. It follows Robert, a bachelor, celebrating his 35th birthday and getting advice from his married friends.
Actor Colin Pazik plays Robert and says it felt like the perfect role at the perfect time.
"I've taken so much of my bachelor life and brought it into this character,” Pazik said. "It's a man who doesn't know what marriage is until he reaches that point in his life."
The cast is made up of actors from OFC Creations Theater and others from around the Rochester area.
The show runs through Sunday at the Century Club in Rochester.
