GREECE, N.Y. — A time capsule is all about preserving time. The town of Greece is asking for some ideas for its 200th anniversary time capsule.

The time capsule will be buried on the Greece Town Hall campus sometime next year to celebrate the town's bicentennial. Supervisor Bill Reilich says they have received more than 100 ideas so far about what to include in it to show off Greece and what life is like now.

What You Need To Know

  • The town of Greece is reaching out to residents to submit ideas for items to be in the time capsule

  • The time capsule is part of next year's Bicentennial Celebration in Greece

  • Supervisor Bill Reilich says they have received more than 100 ideas so far

"People are getting creative," said Reilich. "Things that we might not think about 100 years from now will be significant. For example, a ballpoint pen. Will that be used 100 years from now with computers? Things that we have every day that we use in our households that we wouldn’t think would be extra special, but 100 years from now it may just be that.”

The plan is to narrow down all the ideas down and then preserve those memories in a water tight capsule to share with future generations to show how times have changed.
