ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two big names in Rochester are teaming up to help victims of domestic violence.
Resolve of Greater Rochester and the Willow Domestic Violence Center announced that they have merged.
The two organizations worked hand in hand for years.
Willow offers services like emergency shelter and a domestic violence hotline. Resolve helps survivors with trauma treatment and therapy.
“We refer to each other,” Willow president and CEO, Meaghan de Chateauvieux said. “We work closely together in the community. We do prevention work together. So this partnership builds in decades of collaboration.”
Lots of stigma can surround domestic violence situation, causing many survivors to feel alone. By working together, Resolve and Willow are trying stop that way of thinking.
"[We are] trying to dispel that stigma that, 'I must be the only one going through this,”’ interim CEO for Resolve, Mary Whittier, said. “That couldn’t be further from the truth.”
The merger is expected to be completed by the end of the year, providing survivors a central hub full of resources.
