ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A gun buyback event in Rochester is now offering iPads in addition to gift cards in exchange for firearms.

The event is a collaboration between the New York Attorney General's Office and the Rochester Police Department. It will take place Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Church of Love Faith Center on Exchange Street.

Gift cards of different values will be handed out in exchange for firearms of different kinds, ranging from non-working antique guns to rifles, shotguns, handguns and assault weapons. Officials say iPads will be given out on a first-come, first-serve basis for working handguns and assault rifles.

This is a no-questions-asked event. People are asked to bring the unloaded weapons in a bag or box. Organizers are also asking people to wear a mask and practice social distancing when they arrive.
