Devon Reynolds posts daily videos of the Ida Mae Food Pantry on the Facebook group “COVID-19 Rochester New York Food Relief.” He invites people in need to come on in and pick up a bag of free groceries. He calls them "baskets of comfort.”

“This was established three years ago to help out single-parent homes, but during the pandemic we opened this up to anybody and everybody that is in need. We are also doing deliveries for the elderly in our Maplewood area. Everything we receive is from the community. Our friends and our customers and strangers and people just want to help other people. It’s really uplifting,” said Reynolds.

"I thought we would be serving more people from our community, but it has been a lot of people from the suburbs that are struggling and it is enlightening to be able to help people that usually wouldn’t come to you for assistance. We have to stand up and we have to be able to provide for our own in order to be a real community."

Reynolds named the pantry in honor of his grandmother Ida Mae. The pantry is open daily 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information call (585) 230-3703.
