The strides of a Rochester running group strive to impact our community.

CMYK, which stands for "Craving Multisport, Yielding Kindness," is working on a four-week community outreach campaign to help out the Open Door Mission in Rochester. The group is running an around-the-clock run this weekend.

Cameron Mahood and Johnny Young founded the group.

"We have been collecting clothing and other items and on Saturday we are going to be at the Greater Rochester Track Club and they donated a lot of new clothes which is kind of nice — long sleeve shirts," said Mahood. "People can join us at 10 o’clock Saturday morning in Webster for that race that we are going to be doing and that will be the fourth run in the series out of 12.”

Together they are running four miles every four hours for 48 hours for a total of 48 miles. The run begins Friday evening at the Open Door Mission.

"We are going to be just short of two marathons by about four miles so we are debating doing another extra four in there but we’ll see," Mahood said. "CMYK, we are just dipping our toes in the water to find out how this works and maybe move on further into other campaigns."

"We love the thrill of the challenge and we like taking it to the next level," said Young. "We are always out together and we are out there alone focusing on ourselves so we really want to pay close attention to our local community who has given so much to us that we want to give back."

People have been dropping off clothing and food donations at the Rochester Running Company on Mount Hope Avenue in Rochester. You can continue to donate at the store. You can also donate at any time directly to the Open Door Mission.

Last month, the mission provided 1,200 pounds of clothing to Rochester’s homeless.
