The 82-year-old Rochester woman who landed in the national spotlight after fighting off an intruder in her home appeared as a guest on the Steve Harvey talk show.
Willie Murphy was already well known in the Rochester community, but after she fought off a man who forced his way into her home, even sending him to the hospital, her story made headlines across the country.
Murphy says she works out at least three times a week at the Maplewood YMCA. She is also an award-winning senior powerlifter who dead lifts up to 225 pounds.
During an interview, Murphy told host Steve Harvey how she quit smoking after 25 years and began lifting weights. She says her health improved drastically.
She also talked about the night in November when she used everything at her disposal, including a large bottle of soap, a broom, and a TV tray table, to stop a man who broke through her front door.
